In the last week of April 2025, Interfuze Consulting had the pleasure of co-hosting two energising events alongside the Atlassian team — giving Perth’s tech and business community a front-row seat to the future of teamwork and collaboration.

Monday 29 April — Atlassian Community Event

Held at Fern, powered by Spacecubed, this milestone event marked WA’s very first Atlassian Community gathering, drawing over 90 professionals from across industries.

Jonathan Ross from Atlassian presented their System of Work — a philosophy shaped by over 20 years of research into what makes teams thrive. Designed to unite technology and business functions, the System of Work empowers organisations to boost performance, innovation, and alignment.

Key takeaways included:

  • Aligning work to goals across functions and departments
  • Planning and tracking work efficiently across all teams
  • Harnessing knowledge to break down silos and drive innovation

A highlight of the evening was the Q&A panel featuring local leaders and Atlassian advocates:

  • Don Smith, CEO, Xeni and Tempest Minerals
  • Donna Boyd, Superintendent Digital Workplace, Fortescue
  • Ellie Rafter, Business Systems Analyst, Department of Communities

Their insights shed light on how real teams are ditching spreadsheets and shared inboxes in favour of connected, agile workflows that actually scale.

Thursday 1 May — CIO & IT Leaders Breakfast

Later that week, we hosted a breakfast at QT Perth, bringing together IT leaders and decision-makers from organisations like Western Power, Tattarang, and the City of Perth for a strategic deep-dive into modern leadership and collaboration.

Jonathan Ross once again led the session, unpacking how organisations can adapt their leadership and team structures to thrive in today’s fast-paced environment.

Topics covered:

  • Leading high-performing teams amid constant change
  • The role of AI in reshaping team dynamics
  • Translating strategy into action
  • Optimising systems of work to accelerate outcomes

Feedback from attendees was clear: the event offered valuable perspectives, peer insights, and practical strategies to lead with clarity, agility, and purpose.

We’re already working with Atlassian’s community team to bring more engaging events to Perth — including talks, workshops, and yes… maybe even a hackathon 👀
